AutoTask 2000 is a task scheduler designed specifically for Windows. AutoTask can be run as a service or as a desktop application in the background. It has very flexible scheduling and conditional triggers for running various routine tasks.
Features: AutoTask 2000 is a task scheduler for Windows. It is able to automate all routine computing tasks. It can replace the use of the task scheduler that comes with Windows providing more flexibility as to when and how your tasks are performed. Whether at home or at work there are things one does every day and these can be scheduled as tasks to do things automatically at given times. Backups, downloads, uploads, system cleanup, retrieving and processing email, daily, weekly or monthly reports are just some examples of these routine activities. On Windows NT, 2000, XP or 2003 AutoTask runs as a service. This allows for many types of tasks to be run in the background, even when the users are logged off. On Windows 95, 98 and ME which do not run services, the program runs as a background process.
Scheduling is flexible. Simple daily, weekly, monthly scheduling is aided by more sophisticated policies. Intervals can be defined and things like every other day, first Monday of the month kind of scheduling is possible too. For example, you could schedule a task to run every 5 minutes but only between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 P.M or let some tasks run only on workdays or only on holidays. Conditional scheduling is available too. You build a set of actions or commands that need to run sequentially to complete a task. Starting and stopping programs, sending keystrokes to a specific window, sending DDE commands are just a few of the available commands.
Overall: Quite a powerful and flexible task scheduler. Good to have it handy.
